Note: This article relates only to games that are delivered via a key - it specifically does not relate to Ubisoft games delivered keylessly into your Uplay account or EA games delivered keylessly into your Origin account.
You can gift keys to whoever you like.
At present it is best to purchase the keys in your own name and have them delivered to your normal email address.
You can then sign into your account to view the keys from where you can copy and paste them into an email, document or anything else to then send on to whoever you want to gift the keys to.
- Check if you are gifting a region restricted game.
If a game is restricted to a region you will receive a copy appropriate to the region you're connecting from - check that whoever you are sending the key to is in a region for which the key you received is also appropriate.
- Don't activate a game in your personal library expecting to them be able to gift it (via Steam inventory) to someone else, unless the game is explicitly described as adding content to your Steam Inventory for gifting (as is someone the case with 4-pack products such as Tabletop Simulator)
